Grief Counseling & Therapy

Grief is not a problem to be fixed — it is a natural, meaningful response to loss. Whether due to death, trauma, illness, or non-death losses like separation, identity shifts, or displacement, grief touches every layer of our being. It can silence us, reshape us, or open us to depths we didn’t know we held.

My work in grief counseling integrates somatic psychotherapy, yoga-based awareness, and cross-cultural approaches to mourning, offering a compassionate and grounded space where grief is not pathologized, but witnessed, tended to, and gently processed through.

Together, we explore grief’s emotional, physical, energetic, and spiritual dimensions — honoring the full spectrum of your experience and supporting the integration of loss into a renewed relationship with life.

Individual Sessions

Grief touches not only our emotions but also our bodies, breath, and sense of identity. In these one-on-one sessions, we create a safe, compassionate space to gently explore and regulate the symptoms of grief, allowing the deeper emotional and existential layers to gradually surface.

As L. Prashant reminds us, grief is one of the most untapped sources of self-knowledge. When approached with care and presence, it opens the door to profound personal transformation. Because we only grieve what we are attached to—and because our attachments shape our identity—loss offers a rare opportunity to re-identify ourselves in ways more aligned with who we truly are, rather than who we were told we should be.

Grief is inherently painful, and our natural defenses often keep us from fully facing that pain. Yet, when we feel supported enough to meet it, grief reveals its wisdom—offering insights into how we love, how we live, and who we truly are.

Yoga for Grief Relief Retreat

In the rush of daily life, grief can be pushed to the margins — quietly shaping our inner world while we carry on. This retreat offers an intentional pause: a dedicated space to slow down, be with what is, and listen to how grief lives in your body and psyche.

The Yoga for Grief Relief Retreat provides a supportive environment to explore grief through the integrated lenses of somatic psychology and yoga. Through gentle movement, breathwork, meditation, and guided reflection, participants learn how grief is held in the body and discover tools to safely and skillfully navigate its many expressions.

This retreat balances education about the grieving process with direct experiential practice, helping participants find relief from acute symptoms while creating space for presence, integration, and meaning-making. Through embodied inquiry, you'll be invited to process your loss, reconnect with yourself, and gently explore a renewed sense of direction.

Grieving in community—witnessing and being witnessed—can be a deeply meaningful experience. The shared space reminds us that while our losses are personal, the experience of grief is universal. Connection fosters resilience.

Whether you are recently grieving or navigating long-term waves of loss, this retreat offers a meaningful opportunity to tend to grief in a holistic, embodied way — restoring nervous system balance through yoga and somatic practices, cultivating insight and resilience through guided reflection, engaging in shared community space, and gently reorienting toward life with greater clarity and compassion.

This retreat is open to individuals grieving a significant loss — whether death- or non-death-related — as well as professionals who support others in grief and wish to integrate embodied approaches into their practice.

Therapeutic Series

Grief is not a linear process. Rather than moving through fixed stages, it involves a series of evolving tasks — as described in Worden’s model of mourning — each calling for distinct kinds of support. These therapeutic series are designed to meet those shifting needs through focused, time-limited group work.

Each series follows a thematic arc that invites deeper exploration of grief-related experiences such as identity shifts, emotional regulation, b

ody-based processing, and meaning-making. Through a blend of somatic awareness, psychoeducation, and facilitated group process, participants are supported in integrating their grief within a safe and structured container.

Current offerings vary and may include different formats — online or in person, focused on specific types of loss or open to anyone grieving — all grounded in the same integrative, body-centered approach as individual grief therapy.
